Roark shared lately that someone in his church recently loaned him an Axis Cube. So I pulled mine out and gave it a good scramble. Yesterday I had a chainsaw catastrophe that resulted in a trip to Vista CC and the Sutter ER. I took the cube because I figured there would be lots of waiting. There was. Since I hadn’t solved the thing in years it was quite challenging. I started with the blue and white trapezoidal edges. It took a while but I finally figured out what was what so I could finish the bottom layer. With the bottom layer solved it wasn’t too bad solving the middle layer although still challenging. I could not figure out if top layer edges were flipped or not. It shouldn’t be that hard but I never did get it right with the simple algorithm. So finally I just solved the corners then used the long algorithm to flip 2 edges. Somewhere along the line I oriented the middle layer centers. I think in the past I would make sure I oriented them as I went. When all was said and done the top center needed to twist 180°. I couldn’t remember the algorithm and had trouble finding it, but finally did in my Solution Guides spreadsheet (the old one in Sheets).

OW center on bottom.
WOB corner.
W and O triangles.
G triangle.
Solve top layer corners using commutators and twisting. (figuring out pairs is crazy on this)
I don’t think this is a good idea. Forget it. No Corners First on the Axis Cube.
